Brain inflammation, caused by gluten, gives rise to brain fog where the brain presses against the inside of the skull. We have no pain receptors in the brain which is why brain surgery only requires anaesthetic where the skull is to be opened and none on the brain itself;so instead of pain, brain fog causes that numb dulled sensation. The pressure of the brain against the skull can cause dementia and other brain disorders as discussed in this post.
Neurotoxicity takes the argument against gluten to a whole new level.
Let’s start by defining neurotoxicity:
Neurotoxin: : a poisonous complex especially of protein that acts on the nervous system
Gluten, or more specifically gliadin, the protein in wheat causes damage to the brain and the nervous system. Dr Rodney Ford M.D., an Australian paediatric gastroenterologist found that a wide range of illnesses can be tracked back to wheat and other grains. Despite scepticism shown by his colleagues and the media, he is committed to spreading the word and the word is that gluten causes brain disease and nerve disease.
Dr Ford is not the only medic shouting in the wilderness. Dr David Perlmutter M.D., an American neurologist had a book published in America on the 17th September which made its way straight into the best sellers list.
Unfortunately the publication of Grain Brain has been delayed in Britain. We have to wait until mid November to read about how even healthy grains cause dementia, ADHD, anxiety, depression, migraines and more. The success of his book does mean that he is in demand, giving interviews so while we are waiting, here is an interview reported in Psychology Today where he talks about the neurotoxicity of grains and other issues.
